Following very successful trials easyJet the popular budget airline are moving away from the scramble loathed by so many regular pasengers to find good seats and will in future allocate numbered seats to all passengers on Alicante (and all) routes.  This will do way with the so called “speedy” boarding available to the first 30 pasengers booked on flights.  The move starts on November 1st with ALL flights across the easyJet network expected to be on allocated seating by the end of November.

Passengers will either automatically be issued a FREE seat number when they print their boarding card or may choose a specific seat at the time of booking for a fee, with exit seats, extra leg room and front seats being at a premium.

So how much does it cost on easyJet for seats?  At the time of writing the cost to choose your own seat on an Airbus A319 is 4€ for a standard seat in rows 6 to 9 and 12 to 26, 10€ for front rows 2 to 5 and 15€ for a extra leg room rows 1, 10 and 11.  On an Airbus A320 the fee is 4€ for a standard seat in rows 7 to 11 and 14 to 31, 10€ for front rows 2 to 6 and 15€ for a extra leg room rows 1, 12 and 13.

Of course if like most passengers you are not fussed where you sit the system will issue you with seat numbers automatically.  It is expected that the popular window seats will still be worth paying for and are likely to sell quickly.

Those who have already paid for “speedy” boarding will be allocated front seats and will have priority check-in and be abel to board first.  Passengers who are easyJet Plus! cardholders will be able to choose and seat they wish FREE of charge.

If you have booked a Holiday with easyJet to Alicante, Albir , Benidorm and the Costa Blanca with easyJet holidays you will be issued seats by the system and will in future have an option to book and pay extra for specific seating.

The reason for free seating was to speed up the turn around time for aircraft, yet easyJet boss Carolyn McCall states that there has been no significant hold ups on flight departures and that the positive feedback from passengers was in favour of the move to allocated seats.
