Hotel Deloix Aqua Center in Benidorm

A sneaky look at the very fabulous HOTEL DELOIX  4*

Hotel Deloix Benidorm

THE HOTEL  location - Avenida  Doctor Severo Ochoa, 34  03503 Benidorm

Often overlooked by many visitors due to the location on the edge of town, however the Hotel De Loix is clearly one of the better choices and is simply perfect for a weekend break where you just want to chill by the pool all day and venture out at night.

This is a low-rise hotel big on style with superb hanging gardens and a lush tropical internal featured garden too.  There is a real feeling of space with modern furniture in the reception and café bar which creates an awesome atmosphere.  This is no ordinary hotel, this is somewhere very special and quite unique in Benidorm.  Staff were all friendly too.

THE ROOMS

You get big here!  Big rooms, big balconies and big views of the surrounding mountains and countryside.  All 188 rooms are furnished in a minimalist but functional style making that big space feel even bigger!  Every room comes with a comfy sofa which is great for couples and for families with either one or two children the sofa quickly converts into a bed for the kids.  Internet is a decent speed and cost just 5€ per week.

THE FOOD

A buffet restaurant offering a good selection for breakfast, more continental with less hot selection than us Brits prefer, but nice enough.  Evening meals include an abundant selection of fresh salad plus a choice of fish and meats from the hot buffet.  Wine by the glass comes in at under 2€ and a big bottle of water just 3€ so inexpensive for drinks with your meals.  Lots of fresh fruit and sticky deserts.  All in all always something nice to eat and perfect for a long weekend, probably get a bit dull after a week but buffets always do.

THE POOLS

A nice big pool awaits you with plenty of sunbeds plus an excellent Kids pool located in a shaded position so you don´t have to worry about the Kids roasting away in the sun!  For those who prefer their breaks child free there is an Adult only pool on the rooftop, a huge bonus to be honest.  The indoor pool is fantastic (obligatory silly hats only 2.50€) with some nice features.  Pool towels are available for a 1€ fee.  They keep the pool area closed until 10am, to stop the annoying folks putting towels out before breakfast.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

The walk to the beach takes 20 minutes on the flat, regular buses stop outside the hotel to take you down to the beach and back (Taxis cost about 6€).  Benidorm Palace is across the road for a superb dinner and show experience (a must) and Aqualandia and Mundomar just a 10 minute walk behind the hotel.  The road leading into Benidorm is littered with bars and cafés including the popular Levi´s Showboat for some fun nights out.  From September onwards expect mainly couples and very few children.  This is not a hotel with lots of groups so unlikely to encounter any Hens or Stags here, hoorah!  Enjoy, we did.

Saturday Market Benidorm in La Cala Finestrat

From freshly cooked CHICKEN to CHA CHA Heels!

Saturday Market Benidorm La Cala Finestrat

La Cala Finestrat Saturday Market near Benidorm has it all and more…..

The Saturday morning market in the bay at La Cala Finestrat just up the road by Bus from Benidorm, has gone from strength to strength over the last couple of years.  What was once a tiny and rather dull little market selling the usual range of shoes and handbags has grown into a fine place to buy fresh local Spanish fruit and vegetables, plus cheese, bread, and of course hams and delicious sliced sausages of all types.

This is a happy market, there is not the overkill found in the large Benidorm market which allow too many of the same type of stall.  Here you will not find stall after stall all selling exactly the same thing.  The pitch holders do not have that look of desperation often seen in other markets.  There is a real feel of a local market frequented by people who live locally and not just a tourist trap kind of place.  This market really deserves support, it is great.

You will find real variety here with a great mix of food, clothes and of course those obligatory look like the real thing handbags!  You will not find those horrible “brown shoes only” stalls, instead you will find smart modern (mostly fake) branded shoes for men and sparkly big Cha Cha heel shoes for ladies.

There are several of each type of stall, but each seems to sell very different stock.  You will find really good handmade costume jewellery, a wonderful stall selling every type of olive you could imagine.  There are beautifully colourful vegetable stalls, date stalls, melon stalls, fresh baked bread and simple seasonal cherry stalls.  You can buy quality rugs, cheap knickers, beach beds, art and leather.  For the peckish, enjoy a couple of makeshift cafés and a couple of popular ready to go spit roasted chicken vendors who will chop it, skin it and box it ready to eat (always big queues).

Book Now!

It is a real pleasure to spend a few hours here.  Easy to park or take the regular bus No.2 or No.3 from central Benidorm.  After a trip to this authentic local market there is a great beach to enjoy a dip in the sea or hop on the bus back to Benidorm old town for an authentic Spanish late lunch.  Whatever YOU do, enjoy YOUR break in La Cala and why not book one of the best hotels in town too staying right on the beach.  SEE THE FANTASTIC LA CALA BEACH HOTEL Click Now!

Hotel Orange Benidorm A Popular Levante Hotel

hotel-orange-benidormDeciding where to stay in Benidorm can be an uphill climb, what is perfect for one person could be holiday hell for another!  Of course Benidorm is rarely a place for peace and tranquillity, BUT, finding the right mix of fun, sun and a little bit of chill time is crucial if you are to return home relaxed with a feeling of time and money well spent.

In the first of a series from our mystery man on the street we attempt to offer you the “real” hotels behind the brochures.  This week the amazingly popular HOTEL ORANGE.

THE HOTEL

The first thing that strikes you about the hotel Orange as you walk through the entrance is the incredibly well kept lobby and lounge area.  This is a typical hotel from servigroup, the obvious investment in furnishings that will last, are easy to maintain and tip-top housekeeping are evident here.  Although an older style (1970´s) hotel the modernising in recent years has kept the building up to date including soundproofed doors to balconies, a real plus for a stay in the heart (Café Benidorm disco pub is opposite!) of the Playa Levante. A couple of guests mentioned to me that they were staying overlooking the late bars and could barely notice any noise after a few Vodkas and once the terrace doors were closed!

THE ROOMS

Refurbished only a couple of years ago, rooms are modern and bright with wooden floors, flat screen TV including plenty of UK Channels, not just the news.  WiFi is free and does work in rooms too.  There is a mini-fridge for chilling your drinks.  Guests also mentioned that the showers are really powerful and the cleaning is 100%.  All you could need then!

THE FOOD

Probably one of the main reasons that so many British guests love this hotel is the food.  The dining options are very much geared toward foreign visitors with just the right mix of local cuisine and dishes we northern Europeans like!  Breakfast is vast and will fill you up all day.  With 16 hotels and over 8,000 beds servigroup has a central food supply which enables them to offer well above average catering.  Worth the few extra Euros to go Full Board here.

THE POOL

At first it appears perhaps a bit on the small side, but when you add up the fact the hotel only has a maximum 500 guests most of whom head for the beach (3 minute walk) it is never a problem finding a sunbed from the many provided, on my visit this week there was plenty of room to spare around the pool or on the sun deck above.  Drinks are just a hop away from the poolside bar too.  No sign of any rowdy groups either, seemed to be mostly couples.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

The location is right in the very centre of the resort and opposite many of the late night venues.  Therefore some noise should be expected at night when staying in this area. The hotel is popular with couples who like to party and some groups too, but the soundproofed terrace doors really do make a difference.  The hotel management are good at sorting out any rowdy folks, so a quick call to reception quickly sorts out any issues.  Like every hotel in Benidorm, fellow guests can never be anticipated, so do not let the location put you off booking.  We loved the hotel Orange, it is ideal for a few nights away if good food, great nights out and a very clean place to stay is on your list.  Enjoy, YOUR weekender in Benidorm.
