Sand Castles, Sunbeds, Skiing
and a bit of a stroll along the prom
Despite a reputation as a rowdy place frequented by beer belly heavy drinking groups of lads, there is more to this most famous part of the Levante beach in Benidorm than you might think!
Even on the final Sunday afternoon in August there were plenty of empty sunbeds and still lots of space to enjoy the sun without having a strangers toe in your face! With a price tag of 4€ for a sunbed and 4€ for a big parasol relaxing in comfort is affordable.
EAT AND DRINK
You will not be short of dining and drinking options, this part of the beach offers every type of low cost dining option from all day big bad greasy English breakfasts to the obligatory Paella. And big terrace bars offer all the favourite British beers, local lagers, Guinness and all the days sporting fixtures you could want in bars such as the “Bar Sol”, “Lazy Cow” or the British “Terrace Bar” which oddly does not actually have a terrace!
For those who demand an adrenaline rush in between applications of factor 20 sun protection the famous cable-ski has powered folks along a 1,000 metre circuit without the need for a fast boat for 47 years! 26€ buys you an hour including a wakeboard. If you prefer the traditional beach water activities 80€ buys you a 3 for the price of 2 adventure on the “flyfish” big yellow “banana ride” plus the thrill ride with a view, a circuit “parasailing”. If you prefer bobbing along without the rush take the boat to Benidorm Island for just 14€ and see what all the fuss is about on the tiny island out in the bay.
TAKE A STROLL
Before lunch or perhaps Aprés-ski the perfect day on the Levante would not be complete without a stroll along the promenade. With a round trip of over 3kms if you walk the entire beach this is a great way to work off the big bad greasy breakfast or simply to people watch and stop off for a coffee, glass of wine or choose from over 200 different ice creams at the many “heladeria” dotted along the beach.
Playa Levante, Rincon de Loix by day is what Benidorm is all about. Yes it is a bit tacky in places and may not be everyone´s cup of tea, but one thing is for sure, you can get a nice cup of tea, fish and chips, pint of the black stuff and build a sand castle on a day trip to the Benidorm sands!
