Enjoy a sneaky look at the HOTEL DON PANCHO a rather lovely and grand old hotel. With no end of regulars who would back me up on this observation the 4* hotel Don Pancho is in a class of its own with a very fine heritage from the days when grand really did mean grand. You will meet guests who have stayed here every year for more than thirty years and married couples who once stayed here with their parents when they were young. Everything about the hotel says elegance and class.
Located half way along the Levante and just one street back from the beach and promenade the 17 story hotel is a triumph of 1970´s architecture at its best. There are stunning gardens and water features before entering the welcoming lobby. Once inside, guests will find a huge lounge and saloon bar on the ground floor plus a quiet reading/card room. The restaurant, cabaret ballroom, pools and sun terrace are on the first floor.
Offering 252 rooms sleeping just over 500 guests with smart furniture, very comfy beds and all the facilities you would expect in such a classy hotel. Last refurbished in 2004 the rooms are well maintained if perhaps a little faded around the edges. All offer a balcony with great views from the upper floors. A team of hard working staff keep the rooms impeccably clean.
Served in the buffet restaurant which like the rest of the hotel is a quality Spanish experience with a dress code in the evening of smart casual and no shorts. Lots of show cooking and plenty of the best of fresh Spanish cuisine and a decent wine cellar. Evening meals are served until 22:30 in the summer. For those who enjoy a good breakfast, full English is served too!
The Pool Terrace
Located above reception offering two pools (one covered and heated in winter), a smart poolside café bar, lots of sun beds and a large covered terrace to sit and enjoy a drink or a snack. Not a very large space but with the beach just a hop away not really an issue as many guests head out for the day.
What You Should Know
The hotel will suit couples who like to be left alone, appreciate good old fashioned service and prefer to stay away from the “all English” hotels. The location is perfect to access late night venues, the old town and beach. You will not see large groups here nor stags and hens. Staff are highly trained, very professional and look after guests well without being in your face. Hotel Don Pancho a grand old dame indeed, we liked, very much.
