UPDATE: Since the Channel Four program was first broadcast Julia Grant was evicted from the hotel in June 2012 by the landlord for non-payment of rent. She left Benidorm to return to Manchester gay village in 2013 having left a huge trail of unpaid wages and debts to various local suppliers. The new owners have pulled the hotel back from the brink in less than 12 months to become one of the best low cost hotels in the heart of Benidorm old town and the gay village. Back on top after 12 month of new management following a lesson in fantastically poor management skills by Julia Grant.
Channel 4 series, “Four in a Bed” recently filmed a Spain Special in Benidorm at the famous Queen´s Hotel owned by the infamous Julia Grant. The third season brings the team to the long established Gay friendly hotel in Benidorm where the other contestants were not immediately impressed with the popular low cost fun hotel or it´s guests, however their stay ends on a happier note when everyone participates in the nightly cabaret show with resident drag Queen Miss Coco Chanel. However despite a great end to the evening some of the fellow Four in a Bed guests leave Julia Grant fuming after some of their critical comments. You can see the special Queen´s episode on Wednesday April 4th, but Benidorm regulars are advised to tune in at the begining of this brand new mini-series on the Monday.
This is sure to be compelling viewing as the mix of other hotels include the up market Boutique style Hotel La Tartana on the Costa Tropical. The Vista Del Torcal in the Andalucian Mountains where adventure and rock climbing is the flavour of the stay.
