Benidorm Costa Blanca Poniente Playa Guide This is the quieter more relaxed resort See The New Paseo Poniente Also see the Levante Playa Guide
|
This is the area of Benidorm favoured by Spanish
visitors and residents, especially families. You will
find the highest concentration of privately owned
apartments here and no all night discos or bars.
After midnight the Poniente tends to go to bed
even in high season. For a hotel opposite the
beach Check the prices and availability at the
Corona Del Mar Hotel where you will be on the
beach and by park Elx with easy access to both
the beach and old town.
The Poniente Playa resort begins at the harbour in the Old
Town and stretches over 2kms toward La Cala Finestrat.
The concentration of hotels and apartments are far less here
and the beach offers a less crowded space even in high
season. If you are looking for a beach holiday away from the
"Brits abroad", with early nights and early mornings then this
is the place to stay, especially for those who enjoy exercise.
For a more lively holiday you should consider the Levante
NEW PROMENADE (Pasea Poniente) OPENED AUG 09
The fantastic three year 13 million Euro redevelopment
programme opened in August 2009. There is a brand new
contoured promenade designed to blend with the sea and
views. The lovely new promenade is much bigger now with
two walkways plus better access to the beach. Stunning new
wooden decking below runs almost the entire length of the
beach, which is great news for disabled visitors who can now
access the beach via new slopes at various points along the
promenade and enjoy the beach at sea level. The Poniente
is without a doubt going to be the place to stay in the coming
years. Phase 2 starts in 2010 with a revamp of the 190
meter stretch to join up with Park Elx (Dove Park). To stay by
the park we recommend the Milord's Suites which are 3 Star.
The New Poniente August 2009
There are plenty of good Spanish café bars along the
Poniente beach where you can enjoy a menu of the day
from just 10€ including Wine. English visitors are well
catered for with some of the better British cafe bars along
the beach. You may also wish to consider this part of town
if you are hiring a car as it is much easier to park in the
many free street parking spaces halfway along the Poniente.
